We will be kicking off the 2026 Bourbon and Bluegrass Festival with a jam session from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Pick some tunes with us and stick around for a great show for a great cause!
Takoma Park Bluegrass Block Party!
May 15th 2026 from 5-7 pm
We are closing down the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue in downtown Takoma Park MD to celebrate spring with live bluegrass music. My advanced bluegrass ensemble class will open the show, then I’ll be joining Bebe Blumenthal and Cory Chubb to headline. This is a free family friendly event.
Guitar Skills Class:
This is a monthly class to help guitar players of all levels fine tune their technique while learning essential concepts. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month the class will cover different topics on a level that is accessible, creating a good foundation for further exploration and practice.
Repertoire Class:
Every 4th Sunday!
1:00 – 2:30 PM EST
Each month I teach a different classic song from the bluegrass repertoire! The class covers standard repertoire in depth with a focus on melody, accompaniment, lyrics, kickoffs, endings and tips for soloing. Learn everything you need to know to lead songs in jam sessions and sound good doing it. All instruments and skill levels are welcome but you should have basic proficiency on your instrument to get the most out of the class.
Jams:
I run an all levels Bluegrass Jams on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at the School of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park Md. The Jam goes from 7-9 pm and its a great way to learn songs on the fly, improvise a solo, or just practice playing along. Walk ins are welcome, suggested donation is $10
