Jam Session at Bourbon and Bluegrass

We will be kicking off the 2026 Bourbon and Bluegrass Festival with a Bluegrass Jam on May 2nd from 12-1:00 Pm so bring an instrument and join us! All instruments and skill levels are welcome.

The festival is Saturday and Sunday May 2nd and 3rd from 1-5 pm at Lincoln’s Cottage in NW Washington DC. This year’s line up is an eclectic mix of artists including Alison Brown, Jake Blount, Split String Soup, Hubby Jenkins, and Gold Bug Revival. I love that they are showcasing a mix of traditional and progressive sounds on a bill that features some amazing local talent, as well as highly acclaimed national acts.

I invited some friends and students to get things started at the May 2nd jam so don’t be shy if you hear some hot picking when you walk up. Everyone is very friendly and we want to play with anyone who wants to play with us! Call a song, take some solos, play chords, or just listen and enjoy the music. Jam sessions like this are part of the magic of bluegrass music, and its ability to connect people in community, for a shared moment of expression and beauty.

Gold Bug Revival will be hosting the jam on May 3rd at the same time. Those guys are top notch players and very welcoming so that one will be a great time as well. Their fiddler Will Sears is one of the best fiddlers and nicest guys that I know so I’m really looking forward to playing with him.

The festival is at President Lincoln’s Cottage at 140 Rock Creek Church Road, NW. Tickets sales from the festival support the preservation of the historic site, so as you are sipping your cocktail and enjoying some great music you can also bask in the knowledge that you are doing it for a good cause!
